Surname WILCOX

Mrs. Darcus Elizabeth Wilcox was born on Sept. 11, 1835, about five miles south of Tallahassee. Her family moved to Holmes county when she was a little girl of about five years. She died at Bonifay, Oct 24th, 1920. She had completed her eighty-fifth year.

She was married to Mr. Mark Wilcox, Feb. 21, 1858. Of this union there were nine children, five of whom survive her, with a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In early life she joined the Methodist church and for more than half a century she remained a faithful and worthy member.

Hers was one of those rich and radiant characters that carry blessings and inspiration. She suffered greatly and fought the battle bravely, but feared not to die. Her remains were laid to rest in the Wilcox cemetery about eight miles northwest of Bonifay, Monday afternoon. Rev. Z. W. McNeill conducted the funeral services.
